The Origin of Singapore Silent Heroes Award
28 January 2020 • 2 mins read
It has always been an underlying aim of Civilians Association (Singapore), CAS, to promote a more caring and sharing society. To commemorate its 50th anniversary and to contribute towards Singapore’s 50th anniversary celebration, CAS, then called Hillview Civilians Sports Club, HCSC, proudly introduced the Singapore Silent Heroes Award in 2014. This award recognizes and celebrates the unsung heroes of our society, for their contributions and positive influence they have brought to our people and our country.
The aim was to honour the recipients broadly
based on 5 characteristics, mainly:
✮ Passion and ability to inspire
✮ Courage and conviction towards doing good
✮ Commitment to a wider community
✮ Resilience and grit against obstacles
✮ Desire to educate and share knowledge & skill
Through this award, CAS aims to felicitate fellow citizens performing kind deeds and endeavours. They are not necessarily known figures: their deeds do not have to be known by many. They are our unsung heroes living in our midst, whose lives and actions have brought about a positive effect on the people around them. Ordinary Humans with Extraodinary Humanity.
